What Iran Really Needs
 (Sunday, November 28 2004, 8:50 pm)

National Geographic Society has finally reponded to the dispute over the naming of Persian Gulf. Parts of the press release sound acceptable, ie. when people who know the Persian Gulf as the arabian gulf, look for it in the publication, they will be able to find it. However what I dont like about it is their response to the naming of the islands. Saying that he islands are "Occupied by Iran (claimed by the U.A.E.)".

What does it mean to be occupied by Iran and Claimed by UAE? Does it mean the same thing as Palestine being occupied by Israel and claimed by Palestinians? Would they have the same approach if Iran "Claimed" the USA? its occupied by americans, but Iran claims it, so how come it doesnt say Iran on the USA portion of the map?

Some people, like Hossein D. say that the problem can be solved if Iran becomes friends with Israel! That its attempt at creating WMD for gaining power and respect in the region are solved easier that way. But dont you think that Israel, as my buddy Khosrow says, is only half-way up the ladder. America is really at the top. And the solution to our economical problems and respect in the region and the world lies right up there. Becoming friends with America would mean many investments in our country, lots of job creations and lots of advancements in the country. And being the country that we are, we can raise our respect in the world much faster than other neighbouring countries around us.

Bazam Delam Gerefteh!
 (Saturday, November 27 2004, 11:31 pm)

Another night, another day! Days go by and I sit here and wonder where we're going! Are we ever gonna get to what we want?! I really hope so.

They say you shouldn't spend your entire life waiting for something better to happen. You should make the most out of your time and your journey to where ever your life is going. But what happens when you're in the middle of nowhere, with no one around you? you're bored out of your mind, and become impatient. You want something to happen, and you want it to happen now! No matter how much I think I cant come up with something to do. Well I can come up with some things to do, but don't feel like doing them. I know that its because I'm all by myself. My room mates have disappeared. All the people I know around here are gone for the long weekend. Its just me. I tried working on some of my "projects", but got bored of them real fast. Went to work for a couple of hours, watched a movie, went bike riding, still none of it helped. I need help. I need people!

I called home, no one picked up, called my sister Elham, she wasn't home either, called Leyli, she was busy and couldn't stay on the phone too long!

Anyone out there?!

Proof Of AADD
 (Wednesday, November 24 2004, 8:45 pm)

I am now sure i have AADD. That stands for Advanced Attention Deficit Disorder. I'm writing my essay for Psych 101 about Schizophrenia. I got up to get some water. Walked to the kitchen like area where they have water, filled up a bottle of water. Started walking back and as I was walking back I was thinking about what I should do when I get back to the lab. One of the things included playing ping pong and the other included going home and at the same time 100 other thoughts were gonig through my head. I had totally forgotten that I was writing an essay that is due in 3 hours from now. As I got closer to the lab, ready to get my stuff and leave, I remembered that I was writing an essay and that I had gotten up to get some water, not leave!

To 100 And Beyond
 (Thursday, November 18 2004, 1:42 am)

Today Iran played Laos in first round of worldcup qualifications, winning with a score of 7-0. This match secured a position in the second round of qualifications for Iran. In this game Ali Daei scored his 100th International goal and continued to score 2 more goals to secure his reputation for the first person ever to score 102 goals in International games. The second most goals is by Ferenc Puskas who has scored 84 international goals, and third place goes to Pele with 77 goals.

Keep it up Daei.

Its Almost Done!
 (Friday, November 12 2004, 9:39 pm)

Well as you can see I have switched to the new look! Not everything is converted, and the old look will continue to function here. The hafez page will also be transferred soon. Everything else is considered deprecated. :)

The flower at the top of the page is a Fire Lily check it out on google images for real colours.

A few major changes will also be made. For example I have removed the unnecessary menu options, and the photo gallery. Instead I'll be adding a photo blog as soon as I get a new camera, which might not be any time soon.

I hope you enjoy the new look. Let me know what you think!

The 250MB Mailbox
 (Wednesday, November 10 2004, 1:13 pm)

As the competition continues, a latecommer Hotmail, finnally manages to moves their mail boxes to a size that beats that of yahoo's, but doesnt get anywhere close to gmail's huge mailbox.

Seems to me though that google's purpose to their one gigabyte mailbox wasn't to run their own but rather to turn the competition around from "Lets see who can have a smaller mailbox for their customers" to "who can have the bigger one". As it seems that most gmail accounts that were created through the rush of invites where created mearly to have an account, rather than for the purpose of using it.

Wanna See Some IQ Results?
 (Friday, November 05 2004, 4:24 pm)

From what it seemed like on November 2nd, the states that were voting for Bush from from the areas of the country where people are known not to have very high standards of education.

A recent IQ test results that were posted on some sites and is being passed around by email proves that its not just our previously suspected lack of education of these people but also their IQ levels that helped them vote for Bush, or rather was unable to help them not vote for Bush.

See it for yourself: http://attenuation.net/files/iq.htm

What's Wrong with These People?
 (Wednesday, November 03 2004, 3:36 pm)

The Americans have done it again. Once more they have proven they are the dumbest in the world. 59 million people went out yesterday and voted Bush for president. They went out of their way, stood in long line ups, in rain or sun, to answer yes to this one question: Are Americans Idiots?

Even though in terms of policy it probably doesn't matter if John Kerry is president or Bush, but in terms of character, we wouldn't have to see a clown on TV making decisions about serious issues that address and affect the world.

Let’s hope that the Americans are proud of their achievement and that they get what they deserve.

Judgment Day! November 2nd 2004
 (Tuesday, November 02 2004, 2:38 am)

As the world waits anxiously, the 2004 US Presidential Elections approach. Tomorrow morning everyone will be late into work as they line up to vote for their next President. I live right across from the Santa Clara Civic Center and hence it’s a two minute walk for me. Hopefully I can get there early and avoid any major line-up.

For anyone who doesn’t know, each state in America is appointed some Electoral votes based mostly on their populations. For example the state of California is appointed 55 Electoral votes and New York has 31 while some states such as Idaho and Montana have only 4 and 3 electoral votes respectively. So for example 1000 people can go out in California to vote, and if 501 of them vote Kerry then Kerry will win 55 Electoral Votes. Now if five million people go out in Idaho and vote Bush, Bush will only win 4 electoral votes. In the end who ever has the most number of Electoral Votes wins the elections. Now there is something called Popular Vote. This is the raw count of the total number of people who came out on this day and voted for a person. So in the example above Bush would win the popular vote as over 5 million people voted for him but Kerry would win the Elections for having more Electoral votes.

For a prediction of Electoral votes check out this site: http://electionprojection.com/elections2004.html
As the prediction shows Bush has the majority of the votes, but hopefully they are wrong!

Lets wait and see!

We Should Share Milk?!!
 (Monday, November 01 2004, 1:26 pm)

So Saturday morning I decided to go buy some groceries for the first time after a couple of weeks. I also bought a 2L carton of milk. By Sunday I had drank about 1L of the milk, so half of the bottle was left. I looked at it last night and all of a sudden only 2/5 was left. What the hell is going on? I looked around the fridge and there was also another ½ full milk carton that wasn’t mine. So I asked my roommate if had drank my milk. He answered that he had drank it, because his had gone bad. He said that we should “share milk” since he can’t finish an entire carton by himself. So I said that sounds ok to me.

However this morning I went to the fridge to have some breakfast (happy that I have breakfast for the first time) and my milk carton wasn’t there. The one that was half-full that had gone bad was still sitting there though. I looked around the floor and finally found the empty milk carton sitting in the garbage bag!! My roommate had managed to finish a carton of milk for the first time!! It took him less than 24 hours to finish half a carton of milk! I wonder why his milk goes bad everytime. Maybe the one that I bought tasted better or something.
